Gabriella Children’s Rehabilitation Center is a non-governmental organization. It was found on 2009 to ensure disabled kids are identified early, properly assessed and trained to become acceptable community members. Gabriela is a center for people with learning and physical difficulties, disabilities and functional limitations. Age of the children and youth varies from 0 to 24 years.
This Centre have been in cooperation with Tanzania volunteers since 2011. We are a trusted bridge for arrangements of all your needs before and after your arrival to Tanzania.
The center have 9 different programs:
- Intensive therapeutic intervention
- Quality tests
- Awareness training
- Integrated school and Montessori kindergarten
- Outreach and home visits
- Special needs class
- Vocational and skills training
- Assessment and school advice
- Special class for children with autism
There is and integrated primary school for both disabled and non-disabled children. Occupational therapists and teachers are assisting the kids with autism and learning difficulties. Gabriella center is providing assessment, education and disability awareness to parents, teachers and for the whole community. They also do home visits to make sure that kids in the surrounded areas will get the support in early stage. In the center they have a therapy room which is mainly used with the people having sensory integration problems.
They also teach youth and kid’s vocational training and life skills, to help them getting steady income and to become self-sustained.
These are:
- Livestock keeping i.e. goat, chicken and rabbit
- Gardening – vegetable, maize, beans etc.
- Cooking – cooking food and bites
- Tailoring – which focus on making tourist attractive products such as bags, hair band etc.
- Carpentry – focus on making therapeutic equipment such as special seats, tables etc.
- Handcraft – Includes using Maasai beads to make different things like bracelets, ear rings, neck laces etc.
- Drama, dancing and drumming – this focus on understand talents as well as building confidence
- Fashion show – this aim at building confidence as well as talents on decent fashion shows.
The placement is located 11km from TVL Hostel.
10$ extra, Will be charged for 2way transport on a private car per day.
This price can be shared from 1 to 4 people in a one car at a time.
