Kibosho District Hospital, a significant healthcare provider in the Moshi area, is located 14 kilometers from Moshi town on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Founded in 1929 as a dispensary with just one building with 7-room and a few mud huts, Kibosho Hospital has grown significantly. Wards for male, female, and pediatric patients were constructed in the 1950s and 60s and are still in use.
Eexpansion was considered, include a maternity clinic, isolation wards, staff housing, doctor and administrative offices, a pharmacy, secretarial offices, a physiotherapy room, an outpatient department waiting area, a laboratory, an x-ray department, medical records, and a reception area.
Current Status:
The hospital has more than 250 beds, serves 150-200 outpatients daily, and handles over 100 deliveries monthly. Its dental and eye departments are considered among the best in the Kilimanjaro region.
Departments and Services:
Kibosho Hospital offers Interns to serve in the following departments:
- Medical
- Pediatrics
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Outpatient
- Eye
- Dental
- ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat)
- Orthopedics
In addition to these departments, the hospital also provides:
- Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) clinic
- Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT)
- Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT)
- Care and Treatment Clinic (CTC)
- Home-Based Care (HBC)

Internship Information:
- Requirements: Interns will need to bring their work clothes.
- Fees: The internship/volunteer fee is USD 50 per week. To be paid separately from your program fee. This payment needs to be paid in cash directly to the hospital on your first working day.
